Lucky Bamboo vs True Bamboo

What's the difference between lucky bamboo and true bamboo? Nearly everything! Lucky bamboo is a single species of grass, while true bamboo makes up a subfamily of about 1,500 species belonging to the grass family. It's a pet peeve of mine when people confuse lucky bamboo with real bamboo, but I'm trying to get over it.
